What to do with your kid today

Four taps, three ideas. Choose your child's age, how much time you have, where you are and how much energy is in the room, and get three activities you can start right now — at home, outside or in the car.

Every idea comes from the Tandomo starter library and is adjusted for the age you pick. Nothing is sent anywhere: the picker runs in your browser, with no AI and no account.

Kitchen experiment: predict float vs sink for 5 objects, then test

Your part: Add one surprise object of your own (an orange — try it peeled and unpeeled).

Writing

Invent a new snack/flavor and write its ad

Invent a snack nobody has made yet, give it a name and write a three-line advert for it. For this age: draw the packet instead and say the slogan out loud.

Your part: You play the doubtful customer; they have to convince you to buy one.

How the picker chooses

The library has 87 activities, each tagged with the ages where it tends to work best (between 6 and 16), a typical length of about 5, 15 or 30 minutes, the places it works (home, outdoors, the car) and whether it is calm, medium or high energy. The picker keeps only ideas that work where you are, then favors the closest match on age, time and energy, and spreads the three picks across different subjects so you don't get three puzzles in a row.

Shorter is always allowed: if you have 30 minutes, a 15-minute idea still shows up — do two. If an idea is a near match rather than an exact one, the card says so. Press shuffle for three more.

Tips for making it stick

  • Offer, don't assign. Read all three out and let your child choose. Choosing is half the motivation.
  • Play the first round with them. “Let's do the first one together” is a much smaller ask than “go and do this”.
  • Stop while it's fun. Ten good minutes beat forty tired ones.
  • Low energy is fine. Calm picks — a guessing game, a puzzle, a drawing — count just as much as the active ones.

Want more for a specific age? Each age has its own page with around ten ideas, a set to play together and screen-free picks: see activities by age. If you want a fresh set every day built around your child's interests, the Tandomo quiz builds a free 7-day plan.

About the picker

Is this tool really free?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser from the Tandomo starter library. There is no sign-up, nothing is sent anywhere, and no AI is involved.

Where do the ideas come from?

From the same hand-picked starter library the Tandomo app uses, tagged by age range, length, place and energy, with notes on how to adjust each idea for younger or older kids.

What if nothing fits exactly?

Some combinations are rare — a high-energy activity in the car, for example. The tool then shows the closest matches and says what is different, such as a slightly older age range or a calmer energy level.

How is this different from the Tandomo app?

The tool gives you three ideas from a fixed library. The app writes a new set of quests every day around your child's interests and school topics, and keeps track of what they did.
